FLEET ENLISTMENT

WELCOME ABOARD, CAPTAIN!

Welcome to Aurora Fleet, a Star Trek Online  Squad.  We are recruiting!  Our fleet maintains a simple enlistment process for those interested in joining.  This process is meant to ensure that fleet members know how to find our web site, have had an opportunity to review the fleet's style and general orders, and are able to communicate in a fun, friendly manner. If you wish to join, follow the guidelines below.

Aurora Fleet primarily recruits STO players aligned with the game's Federation faction.  We welcome players interested in role playing Starfleet officers, Federation diplomats, or other roles associated with this faction.  From time to time we may play alternative faction characters for fleet events, cross-factional espionage, and a fun distraction.  However, you must primarily be a Federation player to join our fleet.

RED ALERT!

Aurora Fleet's officers are known for their professionalism, daring and honor. We look for all three traits in our recruits. The fleet recruits fun, friendly, well-spoken, mature-minded  gamers who place the camaraderie of the fleet ahead of the personal trials of online gaming.  Folks prone to notable bouts of grief, drama, complaining, lack of teamwork, or persistent negativity are not welcomed.  We are here to play a game and have fun.  Those who negatively impact the enjoyment of the fleet may be relieved from duty.  The best advice is to always keep a 'game face' on and put your best foot forward.

ENLISTMENT PROCESS

Captain, if you wish to join Aurora Fleet, follow these steps:

STEP

Review the fleet web site to familiarize yourself with our operations.  Then join in forum discussions and travel with us in game to connect with the fleet.  By participating you acknowledge understanding of and agreement to the fleet's directives, notices and terms described on our fleet site.   Please make sure that you follow our enlistment process as described and apply our fleet directives moving forward.

- Review the Fleet Introduction

- Review Fleet General Orders

- Review Fleet Notices & Terms

STEP

Visualize a Star Trek character that you are interested in portraying. Create a persona and brief backstory, including Starfleet rank and role, as well as how they came to the fleet.

- Choose a Starfleet Role

- Choose a Starfleet Rank

- Understand Fleet Structure

STEP 3

Post a role-played introduction of your STO character in our 'Transporter Room' forum.  This story must be Star-Trek-focused and it serves as your application to join the fleet. Role played means that your tale should be told from your STO character's perspective.  Your post should be a well-told third-person tale that describes your character and how he or she came to join the fleet.  It should not require responses to be complete.  Your introductory tale should include:

- Your Character's Full Name

- Your Character's Starfleet Rank

- Your Character's Ship Name

- How they came upon or were assigned to the fleet

Note that the fleet judges your  friendliness, creativity, ability to read instructions and communicate, willingness to align with the fleet, and ultimately your worthiness to join the fleet from your post.  So be sure to follow the instructions here, offer your most creative greeting, and put your best foot forward the first time. Review our ranks and roles pages and look at similar posts in the Transporter Room for examples and ideas. Once your introduction is posted, you will be considered a fleet 'cadet', under consideration by the fleet. Cadets failing to follow the instructions will be dismissed.

STEP

Our fleet officers will review your character introduction in the Transporter Room as your application to join Aurora Fleet. Applications generally are reviewed on a weekly basis.  While you wait, remain active on the forums so that we can see you are still around.  Cadets who post their greeting and then are not heard from again may not be accepted.  Those who follow the process, who have shown an ability to communicate in a manner that appears to be in alignment with the fleet, and have remained active generally are selected as fleet officers.

STEP

Fleet Officer selections are announced in our Briefing Room board on the fleet forums.  When you see your character name announced there, you fleet take your place as a proud officer of Aurora Fleet, charged to join us in game and uphold our reputation for professionalism, daring, and honor.  Within a week or so of being selected you will be given rank insignia on the forum boards so that others can easily recognize you as a fleet officer.  Continue to participate with the fleet in the role you created, or create a new one.  It is your choice!

A NOTE ON ROLE PLAYING

The introductory role playing approach described above is Aurora Fleet's hurdle for newcomers wishing to enter the fleet.  Beyond this, the fleet has no requirement for ongoing role playing.  Our fleet officers are welcome to role play or not at their discretion.  Several boards in our forums are set aside for role playing (indicated in their description), but our fleet officers are not required to participate there. All we ask is that everyone communicate in a fun, friendly, upbeat and professional manner, and that those who do not wish to engage in role playing respect those that do.  Thanks!
